What Is The Tea Party Convention

Julian Said:

What are the odds for Fox News airing Sarah Palin's entire keynote address at the tea party convention?

We Answered:

What are the odds that the sun will rise in the morning??

I am saying the odds are better that they will air the entire thing.

Derek Said:

What exactly is the Tea Party?

We Answered:

Essentially the Tea Party refers to the Ideals of the Boston Tea Party...i.e. they are upset and outraged over the costs imposed upon them by government. Some might suggest that unlike Revolutionary Boston, the modern group HAS representation for it's taxation, and thus the movement is uncalled for, but this misses the point that US citizens have the right to assemble and press for changes from their government of the people.
The Tea Party is simply from less government, less taxes, greater freedom (which means the Rewards as well as the Losses). Case in point was the 2,000+ page Healthcare bill, which introduces a mandate by which the FEDERAL government forces citizens to purchase insurance. This is not the same as car insurance, by the way, because vehicle insurance mandates are at the State level, and thus allowed by the Constitution. The Federal Government was only meant to have those powers specifically stated in the Constitution and no others, all else being provenance of the States. The gradual encroaching of State sovereignty is also a concern of the Tea Party movement.
