The signature they compare to is the one on the registration form. Unless the person verifying the signature is trained as a handwriting expert, his/her verdict is going to by just an opinion. My handwriting can change from day to day and is often different enough that an amateur would probably dismiss it as being different

wow, why did you wait so long? good luck with that, because our voting system is flawed. i voted yesterday to avoid the long lines and found out that my signature didn't match my registration form... 20 years ago. my signature isn't as formal as it used to be , and had to prove that it was as ME voting! your concern is a hopeful sign for an old codger like me.
