Australians Overseas - Are you going to Vote in the Federal Election?

We Answered:

I'm an Australian currently overseas in China and won't make it back in time for the voting.

Already enrolled I'm afraid of a fine if I don't, plus there isn't any harm in doing so, except for the insanely hot weather here nearing 40degrees.

Does anyone know how many days in advance before the election date that I can go to the Australian embassy and still be able to vote?

Eric Said:

I'm an American living overseas and others want to know...?

We Answered:

Republicans operate on base instincts.

Fear, Happiness, Aggression, and they tend to be obsessed with money.

Bob Said:

Is it compulsory for Australians living overseas to vote?

We Answered:

Yes. If they are Aussie citizens. They need to do absentee voting (at the embassy)

I think you can get fined if you don't vote. Just like if you live in Australia and you're a citizen and you don't vote.

Workplace agreements?

We Answered:

Wouldn't vote Liberal again, even if gave me all of his perks.
An AWA wouldn't solve our problems. New government would go along way to that!!

Ellen Said:

intelligent people needed to help Australia?

We Answered:

You're right. Rudd is agreeing with Howard on almost everything the closer we get to an election.
I don't think he is as dishonest as Howard but it worries me that the Labor Party doesn't have policies that are all that different and they don't disagree with the Liberals enough.
The Greens have the guts to stand up for Australia and I am sure they will not go down the nuclear and uranium paths. They also have some great social justice policies which is something that has been very conspicuous by its absence in the past few decades from both major parties. I think they are the party for the future.

Wanda Said:

Responsibilities and privileges of Australian citizenship , do all abide by it what are your thoughts?

We Answered:

It's a lot to remember Froggo me ol mate. Don't close the question too soon I'm taking it all down in pencil...sometimes we natural born citizens forget. Maybe some of us wouldn't actually pass the entry test. :-/ PS just keep the back door ajar for BG she'd make a great Ozzie!
