Legalizing marijuana in California in November 2010 question? We Answered:
I don't smoke, but there is NO REASON NOT to legalize it!Like alcohol prohibition in the 1920s, "trying" to make marijuana illegal has failed completely in the US ! Legal or not, MANY people are using it. The only people benefiting are criminals, artificially raising prices, and making for an unsafe situation as criminals become wealthier and more empowered. Also, our prisons are full of people who have committed marginal offenses (such as possession of MJ) because "Conservatives" believe they can legislate morality.
Alcohol causes many more deaths per year than MJ; if MJ is illegal, alcohol should also be illegal (you can't have it both ways, Cons !)
Legalizing and TAXING MJ, just like alcohol, would give much-needed revenue to governments who are in dire need of funds, put many criminals out of business, and free our prison and court systems for serious criminals.
If you agree, WRITE YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. If you don't know who they are, use http://www.congress.org and enter your ZIP. Also, if you agree, do NOT vote Republican.

Will you vote to legalize marijuana in California in 2010?We Answered:
Unfortunately, I will not be old enough to vote this year since I am 17. But if I could, I would definitely legalize it. I see no point banning it and i'm not a druggie of any sort. It might help California so its worth a try. And just because you legalize weed, it doesn't mean that everyone will start smoking it. Most people like me will not smoke all of a sudden just because the law says I can. If I wanted to get some then I don't even need to wait for it to legalize, i'll be doing it even if its against the law.I hear too much argument on how everyone will start getting high. That is a fallacious argument of generalization.
