It helps me and the election authorities to cast my vote without loss of time during elections. No one will have any doubts regarding my identity.
I keep it with me, whenever I go out of my town on tours and pilgrimages ,lest my identity is questioned by the police or any other authority.
The date of birth of the card holder should also have been incorporated in the card. That information would have been helpful to senior citizens to avail the concessions in airways , railways etc.
