You just need a picture ID to get a passport in the US.

Checking ID at the voting booth isn't to check their age! It's to see if the person trying to vote is 1) registered 2) a US citizen and 3) the person he claims to be.

Who would try to vote except a voter? Well, anyone who wanted to impact an election! Or a homeless person who just wants the $10 he's been promised. Or an immigrant who has been falsely told that he can vote w/ just his electric bill as proof of residency.

It's a felony to register to vote if you're not a citizen (falls under "impersonating a citizen").

In all states, you are required to have your drivers license "on your person" while driving, and many states require you to carry id at all times. Very few people lack id - mainly just those who don't want to be identified (ie: hiding) and those who are here illegally. Even homeless people have id - they need them for medicare and gov't benefits.

In Indiana, which is where the recent Supreme Court case started, state issued id is FREE. All you need is a birth certificate and proof of address.
