General Election Voting
Miriam Said:
The UK voters made a mistake by voting in a coalition. Should we demand a General Election and vote for UKIP?We Answered:
it is a very complicated issueKelly Said:
Why am I hearing so many republicans talking about not voting in the general election? We Answered:
They say that because McCain is a very liberal republican. Therefore voting as a republican (voting for McCain) is almost the same as voting for Obama, who is a democrat.Julia Said:
Several people have told me they are not voting in the General election- Are you voting and why?We Answered:
Yes, I shall vote. Women chained themselves to railings to allow me my vote.Shannon Said:
UK expats voting in General Election - how is your constituency decided? We Answered:
Ex pats can not vote as they are not on the electoral role. That is unless someone has fraudulently put them on the list for a house the only occasionally visit. Personally all expats should be barred, especially those who have abandoned the country for Europe.edit, And your boyfirend, Dark Side, is the reason why I think the EU stinks. Why should a foreigner have any say in MY country at all.
Lucille Said:
Who will you be voting for in the general election in May and who do you think is most likely to win?We Answered:
If I could vote (i'm only 17 :( ), I would vote for Labour.I don't see the point in voting for a minority party when we have a FPTP system. I don't see many of there policys "useful" in todays society.
Lib Dems, I see as a "party for people who hate Labour/Tories". They aren't a strong party, and infact many of there members, MPs, MEPs disagree on their own policies, there no clear left or right basis, and if a party as unstable as the Lib Dems we're to get in, I can't see it as being good for anyone.
However, they would always get my vote over Conservatives...
I don't think I need to explain a lot about my hatred for them, but I could go on for hours.
1. There "stopping benefits for x months if someone is convicted of benefit fraud 3 times policy"... No - one in the history of the welfare state has ever been convicted for it 3 times, in total 69 people have twice. Even if someone ever did get this punishment, have they even considered the crime impact?
If someone comits that crime, it's doubtful that they are working, or earning enough at work. Without benefits, how would they get money? Without money how do they live?
This was a policy to save £70,000 a year...
2.This voluntary service scheme... As a young person, I feel discusted at this policy, I would be taken for 2 months to "volunteer", as in community service for being 16?! I think volunteering is amazing, I'm on a national leadership team for volunteering, Labour have consulted with us for there volunteering policy. Have the Tories? That would be why Labour have a good policy.. They consulted with the people it will be affecting. Also, when do 16 year olds have 2 months free? 16 YEARS OLDS ARE IN COMPULSORY EDUCATION! Someone really should point this obvious barrier out to David Cameron...
On a more minor point, they seem to have put up 100s of promotional signs for the election of our MP in our local area. 2 problems: it's the wrong MP (they seem to have got 2 wards mixed up, glad to see they know whats happening in there party). 2, they all seem to be upside down...
Michelle Said:
Who are you voting for in the general election and why?We Answered:
LabourI am a socialist and they are the nearest to my way of thinking.
I also think they have done well for the NHS, education, low income families and many good benefits for older people.
Brett Said:
How will the Lisbon Treaty influence voting in the General Election? We Answered:
Most voters don't know what that is, so it won't.
