How Do I Vote In The General Election

Chad Said:

How do the blind vote in general elections?

We Answered:

Large print ballots are available on request. (Most folks that meet the legal definition of "blind" do have some residual sight and can read either giant or large print.) One can also have a large print ballot sent to ones home to be filled out before election day, and either mailed in before election day or turned in at the polling place on election day.
Braille is no longer used on a large scale because of the expense involved, and the fact that many of the "newer" blind folks have never learned how to read it. Some of the newer electronic voting machines have the ability to "read" the ballot to the person through a set of earphones that are plugged into the machine. And one can always legally have an assistant in the voting booth to help operate the old-style lever type machines.

Brad Said:

Do you vote in the general election?

We Answered:

I've voted pretty much everytime since I was first entitled to in the 1997 General Election....... Conservative everytime.

You should take an interest, as every little vote helps, and ultimately decides who represents your local area in Parliament.... just as important are local elections to decide on the local councillors in your area, which can make the difference between having the person who decides what your tax money is spent on in the local area being a politically correct Labour or Lib Dem wally who wastes it on fancy art installations on the street + giving funding to community groups no sane person would remotely even consider (and who probably also has sleepless nights if they aren't meeting their "Positive Discrimination" + "Ethnic diversity" + "Carbon Footprint" targets).... or a Conservative who makes sure it's spent on things people actually want (e.g. Waste Collection, emergency services, leisure facilities, etc) + plays hell for you on your behalf if the local police haven't been doing their job properly, the local NHS trust try to close down an essential part of the local hospital, or council employees have been giving you grief.

No one else knows when the General Election is going to be either, but it has to be held by June 2010, but could come sooner... keep your eye on the news here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopi…
And if you do decide to vote, and the latest news makes you convinced Brown & his little friends in the Labour party just HAVE to go, vote Conservative, as they're the best chance to get rid of them:

There's also supposed to be Elections later this year... "Local Elections", to decide local councillors, and "European Elections" to decide who represents your area in the European Parliament.

Guy Said:

How many people from the UK on this forum will not vote in the UK general election this next month?

We Answered:

Parties will not represent your views unless you vote. Your position seems very defeatist.

I'll take anyone over the Conservatives bunch of thatcherites. I hope to see the Lib Dems make some waves in this election but I'd still encourage anyone even Conservatives to go and vote.

Eugene Said:

Who are you most likely to vote in the UK General Election?

We Answered:

Labour, the Economy is to fragile at the moment,Tory cuts would do nothing but bring us back in to a Depression.

You have to Invest in a Recession so when the Economy picks up Growth will start to happen.

Cuts doesn't equal Growth.

Discuss It!
