How To Vote In Australia

Charlie Said:

How do you feel about the changes that have occurred after women got the right to vote in Australia?

We Answered:

Im all for equal rights, so I felt happiness.

Larry Said:

Vote - Has Masterchef Australia been disappointing and predictable?

We Answered:

Julie will win. You can see in the preview last night when confetti was everywhere, all of the people were gathering around a girl with curly hair.

This is rigged, and just because she cried doesn't mean you can announce her the winner. Why would anyone buy a book that has recipes copied from another book.

Julie doesn't have creativity and she won through sympathy. Having 4 bad nights this week and she still wins it. This is ridiculous. BYe Masterchef forever. This is why i have foxtel and watch other cooking shows rather than Australian because all they care about are Australians and people who look like australians winning the show.

UK Masterchef is definitely better than this crap show now. Because it's not rigged!.

Frederick Said:

Do you get fined if you don't vote in Australia?

We Answered:

Here's the lowdown... are you ready?

Initially the Australian Electoral Commission will write to all apparent non-voters requesting that they either provide a reason for their failure to vote or pay a $20 penalty.

If, within 21 days, the apparent non-voter fails to reply, cannot provide a valid and sufficient reason or declines to pay the penalty, then prosecution proceedings may be instigated. If the matter is dealt with in court and the person is found guilty, he or she may be fined up to $50 plus court costs.

So there you go, does that answer your question? I guess more than money if you get caught not voting it is a big waste of time.

Just to add some 'editorial comment' if I may... here's the argument for voting from the aec website
-Voting is a civic duty comparable to other duties citizens perform eg taxation, compulsory education, jury duty
-Teaches the benefits of political participation
-Parliament reflects more accurately the "will of the electorate"
-Governments must consider the total electorate in policy formulation and management
-Candidates can concentrate their campaigning energies on issues rather than encouraging voters to attend the poll
-The voter isn’t actually compelled to vote for anyone because voting is by secret ballot.

When I don't feel like voting I think of all the people all over the world who wish they had the opportunity to do so but cannot because of their unfair governments.

Just my thoughts - do what you want on voting day!!!!

Sylvia Said:

Julia Gillard, should Australia shove her off her seat of Prime Minster too?

We Answered:

She is a smart lady. She will make a great Prime Minister if given the chance. Labour have gotten Australia through the ecomomic instability that the world has faced very well. Go Julia!
p.s your in the wrong section

Lois Said:

We Answered:
