Know Your Vote

Mathew Said:

How many of you know your vote doesn't count?

We Answered:

You're right. Why don't you go ahead an forget about exercising one of your most fundamental rights that separate the US from many other countries around the world.

But if you choose not to vote, please spare us any complaining about what is wrong with the country.

Before you decide not to vote, you might want to keep in mind that all those local and state races and ballot initiatives are decided strictly by popular vote. As are the races for Congressmen and Senators.

While you may not vote directly for the President, remember that a total of 537 votes in Florida was the difference between Bush being elected over Gore. 537 votes out of 105.4 million votes. Look at that number and tell me every single vote doesn't count.

Duane Said:

How would you feel if your vote didn't matter? If the election was completely fixed, what would you do?

We Answered:

It would become one more formality of life.

Miguel Said:

Who do you vote for if your politics don't match a party?

We Answered:

You should run as an independent candidate and start a new party.

Darren Said:

How would you feel if You KNEW your vote meant nothing?

We Answered:

I am already there. The person I see as best won't be voted in because there isn't a majority vote to put him in.. And he is not going to be put in by another way. So my preferences are nothing and don't count. I am not unique, and in the era we live in there will be more and more and more people as each hundred years go by, that think like me or me like them.

Ana Said:

Living in a capitalist society do you feel it should be OK to sell your vote?

We Answered:

Most politicians already do that. It's called PAC money. McCain and Clinton both accept it, Obama doesn't.

Obama is financed entirely by private contributions.
