We Answered:

No, it's just the vote code has already loaded with the rest of the page and will send the vote from the IP you logged onto the page the first time with.

"Every political institution in Scotland has been created by the English Parliament. What it creates it can take away. This applies not only to Holyrood but to the whole framework of our local government. It applies to every function we hold jointly with England. They have the say. We have permission to agree."

"We have just seen how it applies to the BBC. We are a democracy but the state broadcasting system elects to give a voice only to the Unionists. This is manifestly unfair. Yet the Court must administer the law as it is handed down from England. Our say is silence."

"We will increasingly be in conflict not with the English people but with Westminster. They have too much to lose….their seat on the Security Council... our oil… our ports for their navy... and above all their face. They cannot understand that we want nothing more than to be friends." (Ian Hamilton QC)

Susan Said:

Is this the right way to make my UK election vote count as much as possible?

We Answered:

Yes. Your vote is primarily there to achieve an objective first and foremost.

Croydon Central is a classic 2-way marginal, battling it out between Labour and Tory, squeezing the Lib Dems to a respectable core vote of about 6000.

This looks very promising for the Tories to take this seat comfortably this time, unless the Labour activists are in good enough heart to make a fight of it. There isn't quite enough for the Lib Dems to take the seat, but a good result for them would be to shift to 2nd place and be much better positioned to take on the Tory next time.

If you are Labour or Conservative, then you stay put.

Likewise, if you support a minor party or independent, every vote increases their standing and likelihood of moving up the pecking order.

My advice if you are a Lib Dem supporter, would be to help the campaign of the nearest candidate in with a chance. They have a bridgehead in SW London (Vince Cable is sitting MP for the Middlesex seat where I was born), so seats just east of this may be promising. Watch your own campaign for momentum (use the poster count), and if it looks the campaign is taking off, then join the local bandwagon.

My own seat (Worcestershire West) is a Tory-held, Lib Dem target marginal. The movement since 2005 has been away from the Lib Dems, and it is likely the Tories will take this comfortably, and also gain Hereford next door. Everything here depends on a candidate winning a personal vote though. Richest pickings for the Lib Dems this time are in Birmingham, where they may well make a breakthrough at last.

Labour has a nest of seats highly vulnerable to the Tories, nearest being Foxy Foster in Worcester, and also Jacqui Smith in Redditch is likely to go. A Labour supporter here is mostly firefighting.

Conservatives can just stay put, since a campaign pretty well anywhere will reward them one way or another.

Independents of course have the good doctor in Wyre Forest. Wonderful he is standing again.
