Online Registration To Vote
Marcia Said:
I have a debate topic that i need some help with?We Answered:
Well, same day registration would help deal with people who don't vote because they don't want to take the time to go register. And online voting would mean you didn't have to actually go to a polling place. Its easier to examine the cons for this than the pros, as it is a logistical nightmare to implement this idea.
EDIT: Actually, I just thought of another con, a BIG one that makes this idea almost indefensible. Adding online voting will greatly skew voter turnout towards those who have internet access, trending towards young professionals with disposable income. Any activity that alters the distribution of social classes who are voting and pushes it in one direction or another is counterproductive to democracy, as it skews the power towards the interest of the groups with greater access to the ability to vote easily.
I'm presenting you the cons because a useful tool in debating and writing persuasive essays is to be prepared for your opponents points of view, and you can often formulate an argument for a weak point of view by being able to effectively argue against your opponents points instead of arguing for your own.
