Milton Said:

If I register a mail-in voter (absentee voter), can I still vote at a poll in the future?

We Answered:

In the State of California, you may still go to the polls to vote even if you registered as a mail-in voter. When you go to the polling place to vote, take the mail in ballot with you and surrender it. Once you surrender the mail in ballot, you will be given a new ballot.

If you do not surrender the mail in ballot, you may still vote on a provisional ballot. Your vote will be counted once the registrar confirms that you did not also mail in your ballot.

Either way, vote!

Tamara Said:

Is it to late to register to vote in Southern California?

We Answered:

The deadline is indeed October 20 for the 2008 election.

You can fill out the form online, but you have to print it and either mail it or drop it off:

If you don't have a printer handy, you can usually find a registration form at a public library or DMV, and you can find where to drop off the form here:

Agnes Said:

Can someone telle me if it's too late to register to vote in California?

We Answered:

It is too late to register, but it sounds like you have registered. Things like incorrect addresses can be fixed. Go to your polling place and see if you are listed--if so there is no problem. Even if you are not listed you will probably be able to cast a provisional ballot and they can check on your registration status later.

Gary Said:

Can I register to vote in California if I have a Florida license, but will move to California in one month?

We Answered:

Yes, you can register to vote in CA if you have a license from another state. But you have to have a California address listed, so if you already know where you're going to be living, I don't see a problem. If you don't already have a place, then you just need to wait until you do.

I had a NV license and registered to vote in CA for the last election. I didn't have any problems when it came time to vote at all.
