Agnes Said:

My friend is being prevented to register to vote in NC, what can she do?

We Answered:

Why is she being blocked? You do have to meet a residency requirement, so if she recently moved she may not have enough time to meet that requirement.

Robert Said:

Is it too late for my brother to register to vote in NC for the general election?

We Answered:

No.

"The deadline to register to vote in this State is 25 days before the day of the election."

Beverly Said:

do I have to re-register to vote if I moved counties in same state? (NC)?

We Answered:

I am not sure what the deadline is in North Carolina.

In most states, and I assume that North Carolina fits in this category, there is something called typically called a "federal ballot." Basically, a federal ballot allows people who were validly registered at their old address within the state to vote state-wide offices and propositions even though they are not entitled to vote in local races.

I would recommend checking with your local election authority and if necessary bring your previous voter registration card with you when you vote.

Hazel Said:

I didn't register in time and want to vote in NC where do I go?

We Answered:

It's too late to vote in this year's Presidential election but give the polls a few weeks and then go register so that you're eligible for your state elections in 2 years.

Meanwhile, although you can't vote, you can still have an influence. Talk to folks you know about their choice. If they're willing to engage, see if you can't get them to consider your candidate's strengths.

UPDATE FOR BARRY:

You know what? We don't know Jen's situation. Perhaps she moved. Perhaps there was a family situation that took priority over everything else. Or maybe time just got away from her and she missed her opportunity. I won't judge her because I've certainly missed my share of opportunities that I can't get back.

Your attack is completely uncalled for - she obviously has a civic conscience and wants to exercise her right to vote. Shame on you for being so critical. You owe her an apology.

UPDATE FOR JEN: I just got an email from the Illinois Republican Party. There was a link to a site that should indicate where to go to vote and the time periods during which you can register. Link attached below:

Willie Said:

Can you Register to vote?

We Answered:

No, you must register before the voting day. Remember that tomorrow is the primary. You still have time to register for the general election in November, do it today before you forget.
