Jeff Said:

What state do I register to vote in if I'm an out of state student?

We Answered:

Usually, you can vote legally either in the state where you are attending college or in the state of your permanent residence. Unless you have some reason to want to vote in Utah, I would register in MA, since you would have the choice of voting in person or mailing a ballot in, but for Utah you would have to vote absentee.

Anna Said:

Is there any way to find out if I'm registered to vote (Massachusetts specific)?

We Answered:

Which Senator?

Normally,,,, well at least in California, if your are registered to vote you get a voter guide in the mail weeks before the election with the address of your polling station.

Edwin Said:

Can I still vote if I moved to another town/city in Massachusetts?

We Answered:

According to Boston.com (Boston Globe) "Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation yesterday to allow registered voters who have moved within the state in the past 18 months, but failed to reregister, to vote in the communities they originally registered in, according to Secretary of State William F. Galvin." Hope that helps.

Constance Said:

do I have to register as a democrat to vote in the Massachusetts Primaries?

We Answered:

If you are not registered to vote in Massachusetts, the first step is to register. The easiest way to do this is to download a "National Voter Registration Application" form using the link, below.

The form contains instructions for each state. For Massachusetts, item 7 of the instructions deals with your question:

"7. Choice of Party.
"If you do not designate a party of political designation in this box, you will be registered as unenrolled. Unenrolled voters may participate in party primaries. However, an unenrolled voter must enroll in a party on the day of the Presidential Preference Primary in order to participate in that primary."

In other words, you do not have to specify a party when you register, but on the day of the election itself.
