Registering To Vote In Virginia

Felix Said:

Do you need to re-register to vote if you already registered in Virginia?

We Answered:

Call your county election office, they would know this answer best.

Douglas Said:

Can we still vote by military absentee ballot if we're registered to vote in Virginia?

We Answered:

I think you should be fine. The clause on your voting card probably wasn't written with military families in mind.

If you want to make sure, you can call the Federal Voting Assistance Program at 1-800-438-VOTE (1-800-438-8683). I'd suggest calling your local election office, but I think FVAP would know better what to do in your particular situation.

Thanks for your service; glad you're voting!

Vernon Said:

Is it against the law not to register to vote or sign up for jury duty in the state of virginia?

We Answered:

I can't imagine that you are required by law to register to vote. In fact, you are exercising your right NOT to vote.

Jury duty is another thing. Most states use the dmv records to call people in.

be careful giving personal information out to unknown sources.

You should call your local county courthouse and ask.

Kristen Said:

I am a college student from California who goes to school in DC. Can I register to vote in Virginia?

We Answered:

You can only vote in VA if your permanent address is in VA. That means obtaining a VA driver's license.

If you keep your address in CA, then you can vote in CA (absentee ballot). If your address is in DC, then you vote in DC.

Mark Said:

Did you know that the last day to register to vote in Virginia is Monday, October 6th ?

We Answered:

Not really a question but I like it.

Allow me to do my part - a state by state link for voter registration.
