Registration To Vote

Frederick Said:

When do I renew my registration to vote?

We Answered:

This would vary by state, but I believe that you can miss a few years before having to re-register.

Deanna Said:

How can you switch your party registration to vote for the Rebublican party???

We Answered:

You don't have to switch parties to vote in the general election. The one party ticket is only for the primary and only in certain states. In the general election, you have an opne ballot. You can change parties if you want to by simply going to the registrar of voters and register as what ever you wish.

Marvin Said:

Do I have to change my voter registration to vote for another Political Party for the Primary Election?

We Answered:

Because the California Primary is closed, if you want to vote in the Republican primary, you must re-register as a republican. The deadline to change your party is January 21, 2008.

How can I remove my registration to vote?

We Answered:

just don't vote. After awhile your name will automatically fall off.

Zachary Said:

City messes up info on voting registration can i still vote?

We Answered:

Go back to the polling place and ask for an affidavit ballot. You'll be given a form to fill out in which you will attest that you are a registered voter in that precinct. You'll mark your ballot and they'll put it in a sealed envelope. Then they'll take that sealed envelope and put it, along with the affidavit, into a larger envelope which they will seal and then give to the election commission.

The election commission will open the envelope and examine the affadavit, If they find that you are right, that you should be allowed to vote, they will put your sealed envelope in a bin to be counted along with other affadavit ballots. Later, someone will open all of those envelopes and count the votes, and they'll be included with the totals.

If the election board finds that you are wrong, and you should not vote there, they'll discard the envelope with your ballot in it, and it will not be counted.
