Yes, they plan on voting on it next week. As of now, the Senate is rewriting the House bill to allow for 17 weeks for those states with unemployment at 8.5% and higher, and 13 weeks for states below 8.5%. It is planned to be voted on as soon as they finish the Defense Appropriations Bill.

I called Sen. Reid's office yesterday, and, asked if it would be possible to act to "suspend" the rules in order to bring the unemployment bill up for a vote and not have to wait for the health care debate to end. His aide said that my request would be forwarded... As a long term unemployed "almost a senior" in Michigan, it has been a very long dry spell as my last day (before the job went away) was December of 2006!! Have used all potential extensions, and fell off the roles 15+ weeks ago. Checking acct in now in the minus! HELP... please, for all of us!!!

The Senate made changes; the bill is now adjusted to lower taxes on investment managers and venture capitalists (read: millionaires) and increase taxes on oil. Because of the changes it has to go back to the House for approval. Looks as if it won't be until next week.

they are all tied up in Obamas health plan bill,and Obie is off to Denmark to Lobby for his sleazy friends in Chicago to get the olympics, none of them care about those of us who are hanging by a thread,I bet they would find plenty of time to vote if a bill came before them giving themselves a big raise. Vote them ALL out in2010 and put Obie on notice that he will be next.
