Ever since Reagan, the end of the Fairness Doctrine and the rise of right wing radio the reactionaries that hijacked the GOP used propaganda and disinformation to paint anyone 'not them' as 'leftists'. They began by redefining the word 'liberal' into a pejoritive noun and pronoun. Anyone who wasn't 'them' was a 'liberal'. Being a 'liberal' was a bad thing. Being a 'conservative' was a good thing. A 'liberal' hated America. A 'conservative' loved America. A 'liberal' thought it was a good idea to move on to 21st century technology to keep the wheels on the road and allow oil to slowly go the way of the buffalo. The GOP's Ministry of Propaganda, the right wing radio establishment and FOX Network, began to call their strawman enemy, the 'liberal', some kind of 'socialist' for that kind of talk. The 'conservative' says that dirty coal can become 'clean coal' and used for the next 500 years to keep the lights on. Those dirty 'socialist' want to move on to 21st century technology like solar and wind to keep the lights on, reduce Co2 in our paper thin atmosphere and hopefully modify climate change. The 'conservative' doesn't 'believe' in climate change though they do believe in Jesus and if you don't then you're a 'communist'! The 'conservatives' believe in trickle down economics. The 'liberals', AKA the 'far left', believe that the American wage-earner is getting screwed. Excuse me for saying it, but the current GOP is a cult. What makes perfect sense to those in the cult is total nonsense to those not in the cult. In the real world of objective reality the current Democratic party is politically where the Eisenhower Republicans used to be. The GOP is a semi-fascisti , semi-far right organization dominated by trans-national corporations, the oil and coal mafias and the TV Jesus freaks. Sen. Obama is an Eisenhower Republican in a democratic suit and tie. He's about as middle of the road as it gets. The reactionaries define Eisenhower republicanism as 'far left', and compared to them that may be true. I'm voting for Obama. If you're a working class American, and that's 95% of us, you should too. No kiddin'!

I love how Obama votes "Present" on anything remotely controversial. that is so transparent, yet he's gotten a pass on this from the liberal media.

best example - he didn't vote a bill that would have given some rights to same-sex couples - why not? He's supposed to be this great liberal? Why can' he make a decision? Instead he decides to not vote, so he doesn't piss off his religious supporters. what a joke he is.

The Supreme Court need only make Opinions of matters that are Explicit to the Constitution. All things not explicitly controlled by the USA constitution are strictly, by design, the business of each state. If California wants to recognize marriages between: men and sheep; men and men; or sheep and dogs; then Montana has NO Right to prevent it. It is not of consequence to the Nation as a whole.

If California chooses to Not Recognize Gay Marriage, it will have no effect on the Nations security nor Common Defense.

California's State Supreme Court has the responsibility to base its opinions on the California Constitution and its Amendments. The people have modified their Constitution. The time for Supreme Court opinion has expired. They should refuse to review the constitutionality of their own constitution. The US Supreme Court need not legislate from the bench either.

i received this in an email and checked it out at snopes.com. apparently, brown DID write the email, but he wasn't endorsing mccain, he was just explaining why he couldn't vote for obama. brown was contacted and he responded that he sent that email to friends and never meant for it to go public.

i think it's an eye opener.
