Excellent question. And excellent discussion.

Some of us have a view that our situation is as it is today because we did not follow the greatness of our great personalities. Some find us responsible. Some find that nothing is wrong today, and more than bad we have good. I do not disagree with any of them. And because so much is already said I don't have much to add, thus I decide to analyze the answers, rather than repeat what is already said.

I think Mr. Tom Hanks, Ms. Sharmili, Mr. Allunga, Mr. Mildpace, Mr. Ramajeyam, Ms. Ap have kept their points very well. And I want to add something to that.

Let me start with Ms. Ap. The morality of no nation goes down, its the individual who reside in the nation, that do good or bad. And here the problem is such that, though our nation has billion plus people, you will hardly find anyone who can say that I am not corrupt. Corruption is not only what we see in newspapers. When someone goes to registrar's office for Birth registration and pay Rs. 100 for fast processing without any accounts that is also corruption, when someone is stopped for traffic violation and pays Rs 50 for traffic to traffic constable to escape that is also corruption, when someone goes to a shop and purchases grocery without sales receipt that is also corruption. Let me tell you another thing, these very few individuals, like Madu Koda, A Raja, Ketan Desai, Narsimha Rao, George Fernandiz, etc, if you count you may be able to count, but remember, these not just the individuals, but these represent Indian society, thus it is very very shameful for us that we elected them or our government appointed them.

Similarly, you are absolutely correct, Alagiri, is just one of minority of people who are lazy but majority of people are very hard who work day and night to get their daily bread. Thus such people have not right to represent such hard working people. Agree?

No offense please, this was just my personal view.

I do find lot of similarities between Mr. Ramajeyam's answer and Mr. Tom's answer. Thus I will jump to Mr. Tom's answer, as that would include Mr. Ramajeyam's answer too.

Mr. Tom thinks that India made a mistake by punishing assassins of Mr. Gandhi, I don't necessarily agree with his view. May be he has read too much of Gandhian philosophy. But I don't think Gandhi ever said that law must should not do its job, but I do agree with Mr. Tom, the riots against Maharashtrian Bramhin post Gandhi Murder were black mark on India and Gandhi itself.

I am also in total agreement with his answer that unless with have free and fair justice system and decision is given in fair amount of time, we cannot stop corruptions, we cannot stop crime in India.

Now coming to Ms. Sharmili. I always like reading her answers. And as usual her answer is very best.

I would like to answer her one question. "Regarding ketan desai, how can he got braveness to swindle the money in the name of bribe ? who gave him the power ?"

He got braveness from our broken system, and he got power from the fact that he knew that even if he is caught, nothing will happen for next 10-20 years, and by then everyone will forget, and he will escape by bribing the various parties, right from the law enforcement agencies to government agencies.

Now this what you have to do take 1 address proof & Age proof like ration card, pan card, tan card, driving license like that. 3 recent passport size photo of yours. Go to the munucipality office near by. Ask the form for getting voters Id its free. Fill it. It takes 1 to 3 months for the Id to come. Some bribe money may make it less. Understand that the real problem is not getting the voter Id but it is to find the right munucipality government office for your area.

It is a fond hope of the Government to enlist active participation from educated people and hopefully develop the quality level of the assembly proceedings. Eventually being a graduate gives no great advantage as whom so ever one would be electing under the said category would also be affiliated to the main parties and the democracy would run as usual.
