Texas Voting Districts

Douglas Said:

Will the biased way of awarding delegates give Obama a contested performance in Texas?

We Answered:

Sorry to say this, but this is indicitive of the Dummycrats way of doing things. They make things all to complicated. Goes with the show.

Rose Said:

Is Texas's formal threat to leave the union a sign of rising nationalist movement?

We Answered:

No, but it's a clear sign that Gov. Perry doesn't even know the correct history of his state and the U.S. if he thinks they have the right to secede. The agreement between Texas and the U.S. didn't give them the right to secede. It only gave them the right to split up into five different states if they so choose. But it did prompt Obama haters in many different states to pass legislation publicly declaring their sovereignty. It's a lot of noise from a minority that just doesn't know what to do with the fact that this country rejected their way of doing things in November.

EDIT:
ndnqt: I have seen and heard clips of Gov. Perry doing exactly that. There is nothing wrong with my comprehension skills and he used very clear language. Perhaps you should actually listen to what the man has said without reinterpreting it to suit yourself. He IS referring to secession.

EDIT: Though I'd use FOX News to prove my point, since that's the only news outlet those screaming that we're wrong about Perry will pay attention to:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/04/…

Later, answering news reporters' questions,

*******Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. *******But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

And, from the Dallas News, here's the part that FOX News decided to leave out of the same AP story (and imagine that):

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/…

*****He said when Texas entered the union in 1845 it was with the understanding it could pull out. However, according to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Texas negotiated the power to divide into four additional states at some point if it wanted to but not the right to secede.

Texas did secede in 1861, but the North's victory in the Civil War put an end to that.

EDIT:
ndnqt:
Here you go dear. Read what is above to your heart's content. It reports exactly what was said. My "liberal" mind actually reads and comprehends words as they are put together. I don't rearrange them to suit my own agenda, as you obviously are.

EDIT: Of course you don't see it, you don't want to see it. Even when it's there in black and white. lol I feel like I'm having a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Moving on now! I'll put little astericks by the parts you might want to have someone explain to you, hope it helps.

Concerning the November elections in Texas?

We Answered:

The Texas Secretary of State maintains a list of the "state" offices that are up for election this cycle (under candidate information). It appears that the members of the State Board of Education serve four year terms so the districts not shown on your list are the districts that were elected in 2008 and are not up again until 2012.

Without knowing the specific offices that you are asking about, I can't say for sure, but there is a good chance that those offices are not up until 2012 or 2014.

Texas District 31 2002 Voting Records?

We Answered:

Try the link I found. I didn't look at much of it but you might find something there.

Erik Said:

Can anyone from Texas tell me or help me figure out what "district" the Dallas area is on the voting thing.

We Answered:

This link might help you:

If not, then here is the link to the results of a yahoo! search:

Sidney Said:

Should states split their electoral votes into districts for the election a la Nebraska and Maine?

We Answered:

I think it should be left up to the individual states to decide.

I live in Washington state, and it is heavily divided. The western part of the state is quite liberal, except on the coast.
Eastern Washington is very conservative, especially along the Idaho and Oregon borders.

But, overall, I like the idea of each state having control of certain processes. Too often the feds impose laws on states without considering how the populations are affected.
