16 year olds are NOT dumb. Many 16 year olds are more informed then their adult counterparts. 16 an 17 year olds who work either need the right to vote, or the government should stop taxing our paychecks. If they want the 25 or so percent they take from me they should give me the right to choose where it goes. What ever happened to that old motto our country was founded on, No Taxation Without Representation. It greatly applies to me and my cohorts. I don't even say all 16 and 17 year olds should have the right to vote, but at least give it to those of us who need to work in order to afford to go to college in the next year.
Sadly we probably will never get that right considering we don't have any politicians except Dennis Kucinich to represent us and give us that right. This is an injustice that goes greatly ignored in today's society. The "Oh they are just kids" argument gets thrown at us and our rights are laid aside. There is not really much of a difference between 18 and 16, many 18 year olds are "just dumb kids" as well.

Very important for 16 year olds to vote.

They are young, inexperienced and under the influence of their school teachers who are usually NDP or liberals. Their minds are being formed by a powerful union that supports the left wing ideology.
It is VERY important that these people have the right to vote BEFORE they mature enough to have independent thought on political matters.

I have seen ther NDP platform pushed so often in the schools, NDP speakers in, policies explained, without ever once seeing a rebuttal or the Conservative point of view.

One school was using "classroom ready" materials that were nothing but anti Conservative pro NDP propaganda.

The schools are brainwashing the children. And it is no wonder that Johnny can't read. They do not teach children to think critically and they only allow independent thought if it agrees with their mandate.

And by the way-NOBODY but the members of his riding votes for the PM. The leader of the political party that gets the most MPs elected gets to be the PM. The leader of the parties are voted on at the grassroots level by the members of the party. And the members of the party are anybody who cares to be a part of the political process.

So, as you probably guessed it, I am being sarcastic when I stated that 16 year olds should be allowed to vote.

pablo_asawa is totally wrong. You are an adult at the age 18, why shouldn't be allowed to vote at that age? You are able to enter into legally binding contracts, get married without parental consent,, and should even be able to drink at 18. LOwering the Voting age to 16 is an interesting idea, but keep in mind that it might mean dropping the age of majority as well. as long as it remains the sole domanin of the the states to decide, and is thoroughly researched I would be in favor of it.
