Voter Ballot Example

Jeremy Said:

i thought this was supposed to be a huge voter turnout? 2004's turnout was much bigger?

We Answered:

I think the media successfully dispirited conservative voters to the point that they did not participate.

Kelly Said:

Wrong Voter name... How do I fix it?

We Answered:

there should be a phone number on your ballot for the registration office. just call them and tell them that your name is misspelled and ask them how they want to handle it. They will either tell you that it's alright to make a manual correction on the ballot or they will tell you to destroy it and send you another one.

different offices will handle it differently, so call them first.

Carl Said:

Will California ballot measure Proposition 16 be an example of the affect on elections since the US Supreme..?

We Answered:

Exactly why the Supreme court decision was wrong.

Thomas Jefferson would be appalled because the new ruling gives too much advantage to corporations.

The recent decision overturned two earlier Supreme Court precedents, including one of their own from 2003. Now THAT is what I call an activist court.

Keith Said:

Shouldn't ballot initiatives be subject to checks and balances just like the rest of the government?

We Answered:

Any and all state laws are indeed subject to judicial review by federal courts, regardless if made by a legislative body or voters. But who's checking the power of federal courts?

Sue Said:

Why doesn't any publicized ballots and other voter information sites recognize anyone from an Indepedant party

We Answered:

The powers that be don't want an independent elected to office

William Said:

On State level, why are some laws enacted by congress while others are sent to the voters as ballot proposals?

We Answered:

Excellent question. Any proposed change that would violate our State Constitution, must be presented to the people so the majority can decide whether or not that constitutional change should be made. Proposed laws, that don't change the constitution can be voted on in Lansing by our lawmakers. Hope this helps you understand.
