Tommy Said:

If i convert my California driver's license to a Michigan DL, Do i forfeit my residency as well?

We Answered:

Just changing your driver license doesn't change your residency status. You have to live in a particular state for more than six months to qualify for residency, therefore it is impossible to be a resident of both at the same time as because if you live in MI for 6 months and one day then you've lived in CA for 5 months and 29 days, making you a resident of MI and not CA...or vice versa if you choose. You don't even have to have a driver license to be a resident of a particular state.
