Are republicans up to their old shenanigans?

We Answered:

In USA Today......?

We Answered:

I'm not surprised. What happened and is still happening from Katrina is a nightmare. As Barbara Bush said about the 1000's of Katrina evacuees in a Texas gymnasium who many had lost their homes and loved ones... "These people are poor and underprivileged anyway, so this is working out well for them." So I am sure the government's opinion is that these Fema trailers are continuing to work 'out well' for them too.

Should ACORN get money from the GIVE Act?

We Answered:

No! You post a great question. If people look at the vote that took place on that amendment only 6 Dem's thought they should not get any money with no Rep's voting that they should. We have a Dem. Hill, with a Dem. Prez. We need to vote some of the Dems out of office so we a more of a balance.
Adam did you know ACORN was behind the mobs riding buses to peoples homes that got bonuses at AIG ( which Obama himself pushed for on the Senate floor on Oct. 1, 2007)? Homes where they live with their babies!

Are ACORNS actions a response to GOP voter caging and suppression efforts?

ACORN: Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now

http://www.acorn.org/
ACORN has been a community organizing group that recently has been running a campaign to register low income voters.ACORN had some volunteer canvassers, but also made the mistake of hiring poor people at a rate of eight dollars an hour to go out and register voters.Having a quota of voters to make, some of these folks decided that instead of being out in the weather (pretty hot this summer)that it was much easier to sit in an air conditioned room and make up names taken from a phone book, some even registered sports figures names to make their quota and collect their Eight dollars an hour.Prior to the raid on their Nevada office ACORN had been working with authorities to clean up registration irregularities.ACORN makes the claim that the raid and subsequent news stories particularly those on FOX news are nothing more than a political stunt.A claim that I tend to agree with as the GOP has a track record of discouraging strong voter turnout as a strong turnout favors The Democratic party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GBAsFwPg… This link goes back to the Reagan days, but keep in mind that Paul Weyrich still advises the GOP on political matters.
As far as Barack Obama and his relationship to ACORN his closest ties with ACORN was that In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. On his website Barack Obama claims that Ken Blackwell (you all remember him as the Ohio secratary of state that screwed over his own people by limiting the number of voting machines available to black neighborhoods in Ohio cities to suppress the Democratic vote) has made wild claims trying to link him to ACORN and accusing him of voter fraud.http://fightthesmears.com/articles/20/ac…

The claims linking Barack Obama are dubious at best.It will serve the voter well to remember that in EVERY election since the year 2000 there have been claims of voter irregularities, and in every case these irregularities favored the Republican candidate
