Voter Turnout In America

Michelle Said:

Why is voter turnout declining in America?

We Answered:

Voter turnout has been declining for many years due to political non-efficacy, political alienation, political apathy, and other obstacles in the voting system. No political efficacy is that people don't have faith in their government and think that they don't have the ability to influence government. Alienation because they don't feel that they are a part of the electoral process. Apathy because of the absence of passion for participating in the voting system and interest in politics. Trust in government is a big issue. Another reason is that people don't take the time out to select an opinion or candidate - a low time commitment in following elections. Society has also contributed to this low turnout. As a nation obsessed with progress and industrialization, people are simply busier and priorities are different now than several decades ago. Politicians now prioritize fund raising for their elections more than winning individuals' votes. This is an unfortunate issue in the political system now, more money to fund elections than actually campaigning for votes.

Alvin Said:

A major reason cited for America’s level of voter turnout compared to other industrialized countries is?

We Answered:

f. In the US we vote on the first Tuesday in November. Most other countries have elections on non-work days, like Saturday or Sunday. People work in the US and many don't find a way to get to the polls...just one extra thing to do in a very busy day.

Norman Said:

what are the causes and effects of low voter turnout in the america?

We Answered:

The cause, the choice between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. The effect is no difference. If your choice is a giant douche and a turd sandwich, it doesn't matter how many people show up, your going to end up with a giant douche or a turd sandwich.

Daisy Said:

Does anyone have any suggestions as of why voter turnout in america is so low?

We Answered:

Americans don't really seem to care and believe that their one vote won't matter but if you think about it that is what about half the population thinks. A thing you might want to think of too is if we get accurate results when we vote???

Jessie Said:

what factors account for differences in voter turnout among groups in America?

We Answered:

If its a black person running the majority of blacks will turn out to vote, just one factor that is pretty clear after Obama became President.

Julio Said:

Why is voter turnout in America so low? Who is actually voting? What can you do as an American citizen?

We Answered:

1) don't see major difference between the two parties.

2) the typical middle age people are voting.

3) vote!
