Voter Turnout In The United States

Jerome Said:

Compared to other democracies, voter turnout in the United States is remarkably low. Why is this?

We Answered:

Because Americans don't care enough to get out of in front of their televisions to vote. If voting in political elections were set up the same way as American Idol, the turnout would triple.

Peggy Said:

Why do you think that voter turnout has decreased in the United States compared to other Western democracies?

We Answered:

I used to live in Canada and voter turnout was much higher. Canadians go to the polls for City, Provincial, and Federal elections. That's it. You can go for a couple of years without an election.

Here in the United States a lot more positions are elected rather than appointed. The voters get worn out going to the polls every time you turn around. Most people do not have the time to reseach everyone campaigning for a minor position like County Commisioner, so they don't bother.

It's voter fatigue

I'm not commenting, that's just what I see

Shannon Said:

How does voter turnout compare in the United States vs. Europe?

We Answered:

It is much higher in europe

Christine Said:

What election year had the highest voter turnout in the United States? Why isn't voting mandatory in the US?

We Answered:

how would we enforce mandatory voting ?

voting really isn't necessary , the politicians / large companies figure it all out in advance and then just fix the ballots (FLORIDA) . LOL

we bother to go to poll ?

if they do not like your vote / they just change it. might as well save yourself the trouble and the expense it takes them to do this .. that they will no doubt pass along to you in the form of taxes LOL

Daryl Said:

Do you think that the low levels of voter turnout in the United States are problematic?

We Answered:

Its a fatal mistake Americans are making in some ways by not partaking! But on the other hand most everyone is aware that there is NOTHING legitimate about the political/voting system from the start, justifying the apathy. I still vote & do not believe for one second my say in democracy is recognized! I want majority rule & control by the legal citizens starting with Money/Power/Wealth! Their is a mob of the wealthy buying & selling every level of government to keep them on top! Is it they don't care or they feel its not effective, maybe both.

Esther Said:

How does the United States rank in voter turnout for general elections with other countries that have election

We Answered:

It's hard to know the turn out of all other countries or which countries you are rating against. Some countries have compulsory voting (forces people to vote.) In the last U.S. Presidential election, nearly 61% (60.93) of eligible voters voted.

Michael Said:

In your opinion what are the reasons for low voter turnout in the United States?

We Answered:

Apathetic perspectives with a wide range of reasoning. Most common feeling voting does not count and the system "ruling class" does what they want and nobodies willing to organize to stop/change this dominate control! Producing the powerless apathy!
