Voter Turnout Percentage

Enrique Said:

how high or low was the voter turnout percentage of last midterm election?

We Answered:

Do you mean the one on Tuesday or in 2006. I can only speak for one polling place, in St Louis County, Missouri, I was a poll worker and we had non-stop people all day, from 6 AM to 7 PM. As for numbers, I'm not sure, but about 80% or more of the registered voters in our area showed up. It seemed to me like more than in the Presidential election of 2008, but I'm not sure of actual numbers.

Brandon Said:

What Was the Percentage of Voter Turnout in 2004?

Over 60%, over 122 million people voted. Highest since 1968.

Jim Said:

Does anyone here know which election had the highest percentage of voter turnout? ?

We Answered:

This election was the largest turnout EVER with over 60 percent of registered voter's voting. That number likely went up after I heard is Tuesday night.

Peter Said:

does anyone know the percentage of voter turnout?

We Answered:

I was a Precinct Election Official (fancy name for poll worker) in Ohio. There were 1038 registered voters in our precinct. 487 showed up at the polls to vote. There were also a number of absentee ballots, but I didn't bother counting.

Terry Said:

Question on Voter Turnout. Turnout is defined as the percentage of eligible voters who actually vote.?

We Answered:

I believe it means the percentage of people 18 and over who are registered to vote... because not all people over 18 are eligible to register to vote or vote in general... this includes certain prisoners, or people who have certain criminal voters, or people who are not US citizens.

--They have the actual number of people registered and the people who vote (so it would be easier to calculate the percentage from that)... since they can't always estimate how many people are elegible to vote (from those 18+), from the whole US population...
