Lawrence Said:

Why do people who have no clue about what they are voting for vote in elections?

We Answered:

Because too many wait to be told by their party who to vote for. Also most do not watch debates, read interviews, use fact checking sites and only watch MSNBC or FOX. The sad thing is quite a few of the votes Obama received were from minorities simply because he wasn't white.

Carmen Said:

Why did New Jersey switch from voting Republican in presidential elections to voting consistently Democratic?

We Answered:

There was a time when 'Republicans' were republicans. Not the most progressive characters on the planet and more often than not on the side of 'business' and not the particular friend of the American wage-earner, but reasonably unreasonable. Eisenhower, Nixon and Ford come to mind...middle of the road republicans that were seen as competent and honest, Ike and Jerry Ford, and at least competent like Dick Nixon. Then came the Reagan republicans. More right leaning than the average republican and for some reason invested in enlisting the 'christian right' into their politics. About this time, with the end of the Fairness Doctrine, right wing radio began it's 24/7 propaganda campaign to discredit anyone who wasn't on board with these neo, or 'new' conservatives. The propaganda worked. Suddenly the word 'liberal' became a pejoritive noun and the GOP went from being moderately conservative to reactionary. With the election of George W. Bush the conversion was complete. To the current GOP movers and shakers anyone not 'Them' is a socialist, an America hater and a surrender monkey. The democrats meanwhile have moved into the place where the Eisenhower republicans used to be..... a comfort zone for many wage-earning americans. Today the GOP is trying to get people to believe that Sen. Obama is a racist, a communist, a 'muslim' and a terribly flawed human being, and I suspect they'll succeed to some degree. The moral here is if you move politically to far to the left or right the people won't follow...at least not for very long because results count, and the Republicans simply haven't delivered. No kiddin'!
