Voting By Post

Gene Said:

Hateful cartoons; Will you help put this ugly episode behind us by voting to remove the Muhammed cartoons?

We Answered:

Why is it that Islam and it symbols must be protected? Do you think that Muhammed is the only deity that has been "exposed" against the rules of its dogma? This is the 21st Century...NOTHING is sacred anymore.

Let it go.

Lonnie Said:

As a Canadian Can I vote in future UK elections from overseas?

We Answered:

According to the link posted, you would have to be a permanent resident of the UK to vote. Commonwealth citizens with a temporary visa are not eligible.

Jo Said:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of voting by post?

We Answered:

We have a hard enough time counting votes at the voting poles, so with that in mind I don`t think it would be a good idea. I do wish it could be done because it would possibly lead to more people casting votes. If we could make sure there is no cheating by voter fraud.

Bonnie Said:

Is the local card different to the General Election card?

We Answered:

If you live in one of the areas where there are English local elections on the same day as the general election, you will get 2 cards. You don't have to take either to the polling station but it helps if you do.

The one which says "parliamentary" is for the general election. It tells you to vote for one candidate.

The one for the council election tells you to vote for no more than the maximum number stated on the ballot paper.

Rosemary Said:

Is it too late to register to vote by post in the US election?

We Answered:

Look on the US Dept. of State web site- it'll tell you what to do to register.

You have to do it though at a minimum of 45 days before the election... so if you want to vote- go fill out the forms now.

Gertrude Said:

Would you vote for Obama or McCain if you were voting by what they say their policies are?

We Answered:

I was 100% in line with McCain

BUT some of the quotes were a toss up.
Either because I kind of agreed with both or because I really agreed with neither.

I am middle of the road on abortion, supporting more limitations that Obama would be in favor of, but I also think the notion that life begins at conception is NOT accurate!

On the subject of homosexuality & immigration, some of the quotes were hard to choose between. They are actually pretty similar in those count.

So I could have easily been 75% for McCain.

Discuss It!
