I think it is a great plan, but are we willing to suffer the consequences of another George W. Bush? If we could assume that the system would actually collapse, it would be worth it. I don't want my Granddaughter living in a country where homeless people are left to hunger and poverty (she would not personally suffer since her grandma is pretty well off) while she watches capitalism being "rescued" on her dollar. I know that it is happening right now anyway so how much worse could it get? You are right that we are being stabbed in the back by the Democratic Party. If we can't adopt nokilleye's plan, let every Democrat make sure they return their donation envelopes with a big red NO across it along with a letter that explains they get no more money until we get some of the promises they made to us kept. Stop being afraid of the dead right wing (and/or being a closet member) or no more money. How long would it take for the corporations to make up the difference? Two weeks? I'm am getting depressed here!

Self critical assessment:

I am the problem. We used to be willing to hit the streets and demand the changes that were needed. On rereading, my post is just a whine and I have no cheese to go with it. Nokilleye's plan has, at least, the virtue of being a radical response to a desperate situation. It is the only power the people have left; the vote and our donations. Do I really have to vote Republican? (whine) Can't we all just vote for Ralph Nader?

Many AARP members do have a life, many still work, but with regard to Medicare, they won't accept reductions or elimination of any benefits. I say they will show up in 2010 by the many millions (55 million members), and if they don't like the impact on Medicare that Obamacare might have, they will retaliate.
