Voting Results By County

Clinton Said:

Conservative Vrs. Liberal or is it really Urban Vrs. Rural?

We Answered:

Warning, generalization:

Rural voters tend to vote based on moral, family, spiritual issues which the Conservative party has recently hijacked. Nothing wrong with voting based on what you believe but there is this mentality that Liberals are "immoral".

Urban voters tend to be more accepting of the way people live their lives but are more concerned about economic issues such as welfare and insurance since the cities are expensive. The Liberal party has been seen as the bastion for civil rights and government spending but think Conservatives are greedy and backwards.

Really, it could come down to class warfare, but it seems strange. Rural people are generally less wealthy so you would think they would want more government spending. People in the city have better jobs and would want less spending.

I think it comes right down to divisions on social/family/spiritual issues. Red states are "non-progressive" or "backwards" and Blue States are "progressive" but "immoral and wrong".

Sorry for the long answer. Just my thoughts.

CA: How do I find the prop results for the recent elections?

We Answered:

Go to the official website of the office of the California Secretary of State. They will give the OFFICIAL results, as compiled from each of the California counties as soon as they are counted. The counties report to Sacramento electronically, so the outcome can be compiled statewide.

Here is their website:

http://vote.sos.ca.gov/

You can click onto which races you are interested in, or the reports county by county for statewide ballot propositions, and get the latest returns.

Bear in mind these are what are termed "semi-official results". The Secretary of State by law has 35 days to compile the final results and certify the election results statewide. The 58 counties certify their returns in county and local races separately.

As to propositions, since you asked about those races specifically, here is the link as to all those statewide propositions. You can click onto this link, and go directly to the site. This is statewide reports, as of 10 minutes ago. If you also want a breakdown as to how each of those props fared n each county, you can click onto the specific county by name below the statewide results.

We Answered:

Farmers, ranchers, tree growers and many others have been asking this question for a long time.
Along with fringe types like me that say the whole process is designed just to convince you as an individual have a say in who runs this country.

Dawn Said:

Have you looked at the voting results for your county?

We Answered:

My county voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama, 330,000 (60%) to 219,000. Unfortunately, only seven other counties in the entire state went blue, and McCain currently holds a lead of less than 6,000 here.

Can you guess my state and county?
