It normally doesn't matter how they stand on issues - local judges don't pass laws, or determine whether they are constitutional. The main thing is, are they tough on criminals or not.Unless it's an appeals court judge - then issues can matter.

Think of it as the same thing as leaving this question to voters. You have the option to choose non of the above. By not voting, essentially that is what you are doing. However, since in reality you can't vote "none of the above", pick a smaller party to vote for. It's basically the same thing.
