Kathleen Said:

Can someone explain to me how old fashioned voting machines work?I vote in NYC where they have these ?

We Answered:

Levers and pulleys and gears move counters, and they look at the counters at the end of the day. Pretty much the same way a turnstile works to count the number of people that go through them.

NY has been ordered to get rid of them by 2009. I believe that they are the last state using that antiquated technology.

Kurt Said:

Nathan Said:

How and were do I regester to Vote if I currently go to college in another state?

We Answered:

College students generally register to vote using their home address since a dorm address is only temporary. In your case, you would register to vote in New York and as a college student, you would be eligible to vote via an absentee ballot. This process takes time and there are deadlines to be met. Where I live and work as an Election Inspector in Michigan, you must have registered to vote by October 10 to be eligible to vote in the November 7 election. If you will be out of town during the election you must request an absentee ballot in enough time to have one sent to you and for you to return it by the day of the election. Registration to vote may be done at several places including the Secretary of State office or the office of your City or Township Clerk. You may also register on-line at http://www.fec.gov/votregis/vr.shtml or https://ssl.capwiz.com/congressorg/e4/nv… I don't think you will be able to try out your new right to vote at this election, but register now so you will be eligible for the next election.

Barbara Said:

Why do union drones always vote for the do-nothing dems?

We Answered:

These people can only digest small phrases like "yes we can" and have very limited intelligence. It's not their fault. They probably won't answer this question because they do not know what the words "posterity, pension, functioning" or "the" mean.
