Why Is It Important To Vote

Francis Said:

i need 4 reasons why it's important to vote.?

We Answered:

OK here goes

1) Voting is a first step of involvement and interaction with your government, the government of the people, by the people and for the people. It is the simple act of voting that itself is very important. If nobody voted, your government would not be a democracy, it would take a different form (monarchy, oligarchy, etc...) where there is also a different form of election.

2) If you do not vote, people will not take you seriously and you'll have no credibility when you complain how things are so bad. So then, voting also shows you support your right to vote, and it is another reason why it is important to vote: Your vote is your voice in government.

3) Voting shows that you are part of a larger movement, a group of people. So even if you do not agree with everything your elected officials are doing, you can vote and show support for those organizations that you believe in that endorsed the candidate you voted for.

4) And finally, voting is an important part of your independence. If you do not vote, someone else will make decisions for you and you'll have no voice against them. By voting for someone you believe in, if they do not live up to your expectations, you can choose not to vote for them in the next election, or, even impeach them before the next election. Although voting is one of the first steps in your involvement in your government, it is by no means the last. After 1. voting, and 2. showing support for your right to vote, and 3. becoming involved with your government, you can, 4. help create the government that you want, that most benefits you and your world. You can enjoy the fruits of your labor...

And those are 4 reasons why it is important to vote, and it all starts with the simple act of voting, although there are a lot of steps that have led to our rights to vote in the first place, and, there are also probably more than 4 reasons why it is important to vote.

So, just to recap: voting is important because:
1. It shows your involvement.
2. It is your right and your responsibility.
3. It allows you to become more involved.
4. It shows that you are independent and can agree or disagree with your government and that you can create a government that works for you...

Well, hope all this helps, and good luck on your essay. (One little word of advice: Try and put your essay in your own words and don't write it exactly word for word as people have written responses here because your teacher might be able to tell if you wrote it yourself or not.)

With all this said, I'd like to say I'm voting for McCain / Palin. You may not be old enough to vote, but if you talk to anybody that is voting, tell them they should vote for McCain / Palin too. Why? Because, it will be great for lowering everyone's taxes and helping small businesses across America, Senator McCain and Governor Palin have been working hard to make our government something we all can believe in (removing corruption in government, introducing campaign reform and less spending on elections, and by representing hard working people everywhere and from all walks of life - these are only three examples of many) and, they have also been listening to what people are saying about the things America needs and they plan to bring those things about (energy independence and environmental protection, a strong economy, a strong America that can defend itself, militarily, if necessary, lower taxes and less government to interfere with people's everyday lives, and better decisions that lead to better laws that effect everyone's lives.

Normally, I wouldn't give my opinion on who to vote for on a question like this, but I thought I could also show how I am involved in my government and that I care about my vote, I care about the people I vote for, and that I care that I make the best decision.

Again, good luck with the essay, hope this helped !

Phillip Said:

If response is so important why not vote in one item at a time?

We Answered:

I have often wondered on this myself. It would certainly make more sense to handle one issue at a time, keeping things more clear and easily understood. The amount of 'extras' that get placed into all legislation is astonishing and I often wonder if this is what the Founding Father's had in mind....
I agree with you in all aspects of how legislation is passed. One thing at a time. It might cause more paperwork, longer working hours, but that is what they are there to do, it's what we pay them for at any rate.

Why is it important to vote in elections?

We Answered:

HIYAAA HAZ,
I think its important to vote in elections to have your say! :)
The public have rights, but then again, the ways in which we do it aren't always ok.... like say 35% voted labour , 20% tory, 15% Lib Dem, 30% other... then labour would win, when in reality, 65% voted AGAINST them.....
True, if nobody votes, nobody wins, but what exactly would we gain from that???? If the public were left wholey to it... There wouldn't be an England... Yh, they make mistakes, but so does everyone :P lol

Btw... I LOVE Z.E @-----
Give me B.A plz haz tc ly xXx

Why is it important to vote?

We Answered:

Because each vote is kind of like
.
Another nickel or dime added to the vote count
.
And we all know how those little nickels and or dimes can add up in a persons monthly bill paying life
.

why is it important to vote?

We Answered:

We vote state by state. Meaning, that we DO have a popular vote, it is just on a smaller scale, state by state. The votes from your state are tallied and the Delegates are entrusted to vote the same way. They have never gone against their state. The Electoral college is necessary to make sure that one state doesn't become more powerful than another. If we didn't have it, only the most populous states would determine the Presidency, the ones with the highest populations. With the current system, it makes sure that the people in Rhode Island have the same say as the people in California or New York.
